DAY 2:

We stayed cozy and warm in our sleeping bags until about 9. The weather was been 60s or so during the day and colder and night and morning. Other hikers passed by while we got ready to start hiking again. Hot oatmeal and coffee warmed and energized us! We tore down the tent, repacked our gear, and taped the hot spots on our already aching feet before we began again.
This mornings hike was pretty flat but beautiful! We interacted with quite a few other hikers in passing. A shelter was our lunch spot with a stream just .1 miles away. Teton set up and prepared lunch while Moose went back and fourth with bottles of water for filtering and boiling. Between making and eating our ramen, stretching, logging in the shelter book, and using the oh so smelly privy, lunch took about 2 hours!
We aimed to hike a few more miles to end up at Horse Gap, our guidebook tells us there's camping here but no stream or water source for another 4.5 miles after that so we loaded up on water and hit the trail. It was a strenuous hike with steep ups and downs but we made it and set up camp which is near a dirt road. There are about 5 other tents also set up here. It was nice to be able to leisurely set up camp and get ready to cook as we got in just about 3 hours before sunset. We crossed the road to cook a delicious dinner of quinoa, veggies, and tuna.
Some of Teton's food items.
Hot chamomile tea was our dessert and we headed off to bed to journal, blog, and rest.
